Established in 1875, Swan Reach Primary School is a rural school with an enrolment of 106 students and is located on the banks of the Tambo River, 22 kilometres east of Bairnsdale. Swan Reach has a long and rich history of providing education in East Gippsland.
Our motto is: ‘Respect and Empathy for all’, which drives our core beliefs of providing quality education to every student, ensuring every student reaches their full potential in life.
The staff at Swan Reach are committed in providing for the whole child, for life.
We provide achievable challenges in all the areas of the Victorian Curriculum – Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Music, Drama, Art, Physical Education and Japanese, as well as providing for extracurricular activities such as the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program and Bike Education. All facets of learning rely on strong links with the community.
As a small rural school, we cooperate closely with other schools in the district, through the TUBBS cluster of rural schools. The cluster support helps to provide experiences in camps, excursions, arts performances and professional development.
Although we are a school with a proud history, we are embracing the challenges that education in the 21st century provides – Education is not just restricted to the four walls of the classroom, but includes collaboration with schools around the world, whilst ‘real-life’ issues replace text books.
I welcome all families to be part of our community. Feel free to make an appointment and enjoy the tour of a wonderful school.
Kind regards,
Warwick Fraser, Principal.
